Founded in 2017, MONOM is home to the original 4DSOUND system, this technology, is an intuitive instrument for composing virtual sonic realities. These new worlds of sound are designed not only to be heard, but to be felt with the whole body.
From sound art and music to theater, opera, dance, and the immersive realms of virtual and augmented realities, our mission is to provide space and time for anyone who wants to expand the dimensions of their creative practice and to enrich communal and individual experiences of sound and art.
Through our various partnerships, we aim to foster a multicultural and cross-disciplinary movement centered around spatial sound and listening-based practices. We believe in the potential of this art form to transcend cultural divides through a common language of sound and space. Our network serves as a conduit for the exchange of ideas and collaborations worldwide, forging a tightly-knit community founded on the profound act of embodied listening—a practice we hold to be increasingly vital for our collective well-being.
Collaborating with over 200 artists, our work comes alive in spaces designed to amplify sonic and spatial arts exploration. These range from bespoke listening rooms to festival stages and cutting-edge museums. MONOM’s work has been featured by Barbican Immersive (coming soon), CTM Festival, MUTEK, The New York Times Climate Forward, D’stric, Google, Earth Rise, Reethaus, Mercer Labs: Museum for Art and Technology, COP26, and more.

4DSOUND
4DSOUND Systems are spatial sound instruments with the ability to project sound holograms; and sonic vibrations articulated through controlled dimension, position, movement, resolution and interaction within space. This renders vivid listening areas without a ‘sweet spot’ in which sound is not heard as coming from speakers, rather, sounds appear in space as entities with a tangible physical presence, depth and dimensionality. 4DSOUND provides a flexible and intuitive control platform for artists from different disciplines to experiment and express their ideas with added dimensionality.
Shaped by experiences gathered from hundreds of artists, 4DSOUND has developed an extensive suite of tools that provide intuitive and accessible control over highly complex spatial attributes of sound.
4DSOUND allows users to design virtual worlds - and to animate sound events and sculpt interactions within these worlds in great detail. The tools are specifically designed to encourage thinking in spatial dimensions and to directly control the experiential reality of sound in space. The aim is to free the creative process, allowing users to transcend the limitations of technically oriented, site-specific aspects that come with managing multi-channel speaker setups.
